As 2025 comes to a close, we at Pro Sport celebrate another year of supporting professional athletes with tailored financial guidance that evolves with their careers.
From earning industry recognition and strengthening key partnerships to making a real impact through charitable initiatives and team milestones, it has been a year of achievements that highlight our commitment to clients and community. Here’s a look back at the moments that defined Pro Sport in 2025.
Citywire Celebrated Pro Sport in Rankings and Awards
Pro Sport was once again named among Citywire’s Top 100 Financial Planning Firms in the UK, marking our eighth consecutive year on the list! We are incredibly grateful to our clients for their trust and proud of our team, whose skill and collaborative approach continue to set a high standard.
Citywire also shortlisted Pro Sport for the New Model Adviser Regional Advice Awards, recognising the progress we have made in strengthening our processes and enhancing the way we work.
Over the past year, we improved our systems, refined our use of AI tools, and continued to invest in professional development through apprenticeships, structured mentorship, and clear career pathways. These improvements reflect our ongoing commitment to evolving as a business and delivering the best possible experience for clients.

Strengthening Our Partnership with the Professional Players Federation (PPF)
Pro Sport was once again delighted to renew its partnership with the Professional Players Federation (PPF).

Founded in 1991, the PPF is the national organisation for the Player Associations in the United Kingdom. It promotes, protects, and advances the collective interests of over 17,500 professional sportsmen and women through its twelve Player Associations, playing a vital role in supporting professional athletes.
Through a shared commitment to athlete welfare, Pro Sport continued to collaborate with the PPF in guiding members towards long-term financial peace of mind.
PPF Chief Executive, Simon Taylor, said:
“Our partnership with Pro Sport Wealth continued to provide real value to the PPF and its members. Gareth and his team of independent financial advisers have a proven track record of working within sport to help players and their associations put in place effective financial planning. The fact that they are run by former professional sportspeople is an added bonus.”
Making a Difference in the Sporting World and Beyond
Alongside the milestones achieved this year, Pro Sport were pleased to support several meaningful charitable initiatives.
Chester Football Club: Supporting Children at the Countess of Chester Hospital
For the third year running, Pro Sport were proud to support Chester Football Club’s festive community appeal. This year, the club chose to collect children’s toys and games for the Countess of Chester Hospital, helping to bring some enjoyment to young patients on the wards.
Thanks to the generosity of supporters, a wide range of gifts were donated for children of all ages. We were pleased to contribute again this year and support an initiative that brings a bit of light relief to families during a challenging time.

Mission Christmas: Bringing the Magic of Christmas to Those in Need
Pro Sport once again hosted our annual Gift Drive in support of Mission Christmas, in partnership with Hits Radio. Thanks to the generosity of our clients, colleagues, and local community, we were able to collect a wide range of fantastic gifts to help children and families facing hardship enjoy the excitement of the festive season.
Pro Sport also matched the value of all donations, enabling Mission Christmas to provide presents for age groups that typically receive fewer gifts and to purchase specialist items for children with additional needs.
We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed and helped to spread a little extra joy and magic this year.
Starting Box: Supporting Patients Through Treatment
Starting Box, co-founded by Pro Sport team member Grace Parry, continued to expand its support for patients undergoing chemotherapy at the Shooting Star Unit, Wrexham Maelor Hospital. The charity prepares care boxes filled with practical and comforting items to offer reassurance at the start of treatment. Grace reflected:
“Since our charity ball last year, we have packed over 1,200 boxes for patients beginning their treatment. In June, we reached our 1,000th box, a huge milestone. In April, we also completed a 25km walk in memory of Bill Fowler, raising £5,000. With ongoing donations from local businesses and amazing community backing, the momentum has not slowed down.”
Patient feedback has been deeply touching, with one describing a box as “thoughtful, uplifting and beautifully presented.” We are proud of Grace and the Starting Box team for their care and dedication.
East Lancashire Hospice: Providing Compassionate Care
Sean Towers took on three charity runs this year to raise funds for East Lancashire Hospice. He completed the Manchester Marathon despite an injury, followed by the Blackburn to Blackpool Tower run and the Loch Ness Marathon. His efforts raised funds to support the hospice’s wide range of services, from home visits to bereavement guidance, and contributed directly to the care of local patients.
Save the Family: Bringing Joy and Connection to Families
At our Chester office, we were delighted to support Save the Family, a local charity offering temporary housing and 24/7 support to homeless and at-risk families. Their dedicated team provides tailored assistance to help families overcome challenges and build a brighter future.
This year, following previous donations of children’s Christmas pyjamas, Oodies, and even a Christmas tree, we contributed adult board games for use at the charity’s coffee mornings. It was wonderful to see these items helping to create moments of fun, connection, and joy for the families they support.
Save the Children Christmas Jumper Day: Supporting Children Worldwide
Our Ramsbottom team embraced the spirit of the season by taking part in Christmas Jumper Day in support of Save the Children. It was a day of good cheer and even better knit-wear as we came together for a great cause.
Beyond the fun, the event plays an important role in raising funds for Save the Children’s vital work, helping to provide education, healthcare and emergency support for children affected by poverty or crisis worldwide.
We are proud to have supported a charity that brings hope and practical assistance to children around the world.
Bury Hospice: Caring for Patients and Families
Andrew Lee and Sean Towers took part in a 100-second cycling challenge, organised by Munro Greenhalgh Insurance Brokers, to raise funds for Bury Hospice. Sean covered an impressive 1.8km, taking first place, with the fundraising supporting the hospice’s programmes for patients with life-limiting illnesses.
Building Stronger Relationships Through Team Activities and Celebrations
This year, we enjoyed a variety of team events that mixed fun, creativity, and a bit of friendly competition.
For our team-building day, we swapped desks for aprons at The Big Manchester Bake, crafting jiggly jellyfish cakes in a Great British Bake Off-style challenge, then tested our artistic side in a “no drama llamas” sip and paint session.
Our Christmas celebrations saw the team go head-to-head at go karting before taking aim at Point Blank for some augmented shooting challenges. It was a fun and energetic way to end the year together.
